The first human in space and international hero in earth

The name of a soviet cosmonaut and the first human in space is known to any more or less educated person. Yuri Akexseyevich was also a soviet air force colonel and former pilot, who on April 12th 1961 in Vostok 1 became the first human to orbit the Earth. He made one orbit of the Earth and was in space for 1 hour 48 minutes.

The national hero was born in a small village of Smolensk area in 1934. He was of simple country family descent and had no famous and noble forefathers. He graduated Lubertsy School in Moscow, and Technikum School in Saratov. Moreover, he got training in the local aero club here, in Saratov. He had a family: two children and a perfect wife, but people know a little about his private life.

Nowadays the period of 108 hours  seems to be not impressive, but this space journey was legendary 55 years ago and it was a new step forward for a whole mankind. After his coming back to earth Gagarin was presented to public as an international hero.  The cosmonaut was also was named a Hero of the Soviet Union, a Hero of Socialist Labor and got other numerous awards. He became an honorary freeman of some cities in 6 countries. The flight had a plenty of implications for international affairs: it motivated USA leaders to redouble their own efforts in the space race and recognize the strength of socialism.

Unfortunately, the hero’s life was not long and he died in the process of the training operation due the accident caused by problems with engines. Some fact and details of the accident and operation look so suspicious and mysterious, and some people still suppose that it was not a disastrous occurrence, but an intentional murder. Y. Gagarin was buried in Moscow on the Red Square.
